Manual Handling Training

Manual Handling is a legal requirement and must be certified every 3 years. (Maximum group booking of 12)

Fire Safety/Warden Training

Under section 19 of the Safety & Health at Work Act 2005, employers are required to carry out risk assessments and to record these in the Safety Statement. A fire safety risk assessment should be conducted and should include,

1. Fire Prevention.

2. Fire detection and warning.

3. Emergency escape and fire fighting.

Food Safety and HACCP Training

Level 1 & 2 courses available.

Level 1 provides information on basic food safety skills that staff should be able to demonstrate within the first month of employment.


Level 2 provides information on the additional food safety skills that staff should be able to demonstrate within 3-12 months of commencing employment in your food business.

The word HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point) refers to procedures you must put in place to ensure the food you produce is safe. These procedures make up your food safety management system based on the principles of HACCP.

Your food safety management system allows you to identify and control any hazards that could pose a danger to the preparation of safe food. It helps you to:

1. Identify what can go wrong.

2. Plan to prevent it.

3. Make sure you are doing it.

HACCP is a legal requirement but will also benifit your business.

Safety Representative Training

A safety representative is an employee elected or selected to consult with, and make representations to, the employer on safety, health and welfare matters. The employer must consider these representations, and act on them if necessary.

A safety representative's role is to:

1. Make representations on behalf of employees.

2. Conduct inspections.

3. Carry out investigations.

4. Accompany Health and Safety Authority (HSA) inspectors.

PMAV Training

Course Title: Prevention and Management of Aggression and Violence (PMAV).

Target Audience: Any staff that are directly involved with potential aggressive behaviour. 

Course Maximum Group: 12 students.

The Definition of Aggression and Violence, 

“any incident where staff are abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances related to their work, involving an explicit or implicit challenge to their safety, wellbeing or health.” HSE/EU

Course Duration: 1 - 2 days training.

Driver Safety (Driving for work)

The purpose of this course is to highlight and inform people who drive for work the dangers surrounding this every day activity that we take for granted. The course will discuss a number of areas that can help to increase your awareness as someone who drives for work daily.

This course should be used alongside your company’s policies and procedures and will help to avoid and reduce the likelihood of an accident involving all road users.

The Driving for Work course is not for professional bus and truck drivers and does NOT cover Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

It is aimed at anyone who drives a light van or car in the course of their work.

Topics:

1. Walk-around inspections.

2. Recording of defects.

The owner of a vehicle or combination of vehicles shall ensure that it is inspected in accordance with this Regulation before it is driven in a public place.

S.I.348/2013

These regulations came into operation on 10th September 2013. Before driving a vehicle or combination of vehicles in a public place, a person shall—

(a) conduct a visual inspection of the interior of the vehicle or combination of vehicles, and

(b) walk around the vehicle or combination of vehicles and conduct a visual inspection of its exterior.

DSE Assessments

Display Screen Equipment (DSE) users

You are deemed a DSE user if you:

  • Use DSE on a daily basis to carry out your work
  • Use DSE for continuous periods of more than 1 hour per day

Display screen equipment includes PCs and visual display screen equipment.

Working at a poorly-designed DSE workstation

The health risks of working at a poorly-designed DSE workstation include:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders (injuries and disorders affecting muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, discs, blood vessels)
  • Repetitive strain injuries (carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis)
  • Upper Limb Disorders (shoulders and neck)
  • Back pain
  • Visual fatigue
  • Mental stress

Manager responsibilities

As a manager, you should:

  • Identify employees that are DSE users
  • Have an individual DSE risk assessment carried out for each of your employees' workstations
  • Put in place control measures identified
  • Plan work activities to ensure breaks and changes in activities
  • Ensure eyesight tests are available to employees
